Social Supports
Social programs that provide services to people of all ages.
The federal government, in partnership with the state and local governments and thousands of nonprofit organizations across the country, has long directed resources to important social programs supporting citizens of all ages. Generations United believes that social support programs should provide opportunities for younger and older generations to interact and serve one another in paid, stipended and volunteer positions, and in community involvement in intergenerational shared sites and centers.
The following are examples of federal policy areas that encourage the federal government to help provide social support to people in need.
