Karen Gillespie is the Project Coordinator, National Center on Grandfamilies at Generations United, where she supports program implementation and special projects for the National Center on Grandfamilies. Karen has served as a Generations United GRAND Voice member for 4 years. Prior to joining Generations United, she founded and served as the Executive Director of Generations Together, Inc., a not-for-profit intergenerational resource center focused on kinship care (grandparents or other kin), intergenerational activities, and children and youth education and enrichment. Karen holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Robert Morris College.
Karen’s life experience as a kinship caretaker is what fuels her passion to facilitate legacy enrichment experiences for other intergenerational caregivers. Her drive to bridge the intergenerational gaps by matching resources with families in need supports the mission of Generations United: Connecting children, youth, and adults of different ages to come together in purposeful, mutually beneficial activities that promote understanding, respect, and relationship building.
