Dr. Christy Nishita is a gerontologist and applied, community-based researcher at the Office of Public Health Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. As a consultant for Age-Friendly Honolulu, Coordinator of the “From the Field” section in the Journal of Intergenerational Relationships, and Board Member for the Hawaii Intergenerational Network, she has developed, implemented, and evaluated programs that pair diverse older and younger generations in order to address social isolation, improve pedestrian safety, and create “Dementia Friends”. She has also partnered with high schools in Hawaii to teach about aging, provide intergenerational activities, and foster career development in aging.
